Tiramisu Brownies Recipe

Tiramisu Brownies Recipe

I love brownies but mine are usually basic when I make them. Sometimes I get a little Betty Crocker in the kitchen and will add chopped walnuts or maybe some chocolate frosting. This past Father’s Day I made some Tiramisu Brownies for my husband that was a hit. I thought they were delicious, not as hard as I thought to make and something I am definitely going to make again.

Tiramisu Brownies with Barista Prima

I can’t say that this recipe is mine. The recipe is courtesy of Chef Maureen Joyce and Barista Prima Coffeehouse. The pictures of the brownies are the actual brownies I baked and devoured, but I didn’t come up with this yummy recipe

Are you feeling like baking something sweet and delicious. Here is the recipe for the Tiramisa Brownies I made that are featured in this post.

The Blue Umbrella + Interview With Saschka Unseld – #MonstersUEvent

Poster for The Blue Umbrella

If you have been following along for the last couple months, you might know that I had the opportunity to visit the Pixar Studios and meet some incredible people. What I haven’t mentioned yet was our roundtable interview with Pixar Director, Writer and Technical Director of “The Blue Umbrella”, a very cute little animated short that you will see along with Monsters University.

Sascka Unseld Pixar Director

Saschka was born in Frankfurt, Germany and moved with his family to Hamburg when he was only 14 years old. He then went on to pursue his interest and passion for animation by attending the Animation Institute in Ludwigsburg, Germany. After graduation Unseld co-founded the animation studio “Studio So” where he produced and directed numerous film shorts and commercials.

In 2008 Sashka Unseld came to Pixar Animation Studios where he is currently serving as a director and writer for the animated short “The Blue Umbrella”. He has previously worked on camera and staging assignments for the features, “Toy Story 3″, “Cars 2″ and “Brave”. When Unseld presented the idea for “The Blue Umbrella”, he had no idea that this would stand out as one of the highlights of his career. He says that he practiced pitching the idea for a long time and was amazed at the reactions he received. Working on this project has been a real dream come true for him.

Take a sneek peek at “The Blue Umbrella” clip below:

Now if watch this short, you might think it looks very realistic where in fact, the whole film is animated. You might also question where the film takes place for some of the scenes might look a little familiar to you.  We had to ask Saschka just how many cities are involved in “The Blue Umbrella” and here is his response:

Um, I mean, there is clearly New York, because I went on, on two trips there to take photos.  Um, there is some of the characters, from the city characters out of San Francisco, because that’s just, like, the very first one on the, on the sidewalk.  Um, we called her Lisa.  They actually have all names because you couldn’t say, like, you know that weird metal thing in the 15th shot?  They actually all have names.  Um, so Lisa is two blocks down from where I live.  And Lisa was part of a test I shot on my iPhone as well.

Since I have been to both New York and San Francisco, I thought it was neat that this short included shots from both of these big cities. While watching the short, I myself was trying to guess what cities were being included.

The Blue Umbrella Director

We then of course had to ask where he got the idea for this story.

Um, well the core of the story was… I was living here already since, like, four years or something like this.  And it really rarely rained.  And then finally it was raining.  And I went for a walk through the city, and I saw an umbrella someone had thrown away on the side of the street.  Um, and I took a picture of it.  Like, I think, on the, on the Tumblr blog I have, the first post of that is that photo I had taken.  And, um, on the… I don’t know if you I had this weird, incognito blog called Rainy City Tales on Tumblr that I actually was running during the production.

These are just a couple of the questions we were able to ask Saschka during our interview. To find out more about this short, you will have to see it next week when Monsters University comes to theaters on June 21st.

Air Wick National Park Limited Edition Review

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Air Wick. I received product samples to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”

When you have a large family, sometimes it is necessary to use things to freshen up the house, especially when you have friends or family over.  One place that I like to keep an air freshener at all times is the bathroom.

Air Wick National Park Limited EditionFor years I remember seeing the Air Wick brand and a variety of scents to choose from. Growing up I remember using the cans of flower scented cans of air freshener. For me, I prefer to use the cool little wall plugins with the scented oils that put out a little scent every so often to keep my room smelling fresh.

Right now Air Wick has a Limited Edition National Park variety that includes 4 different scented oils in one package. You can also find the Air Wick National Parks Collection in scented candles, reed diffusers and a freshmatic spray.

Air Wick National Park Oil Collection

The Air Wick National Parks Limited Edition collection was crafted by fragrance experts who spend countless hours creating the perfect harmony of fragrance notes representative of the natural elements found in these national parks and pays homage to the  brand’s  “The  Craft  of  Fragrance”  creative platform. In the National Park Limited Edition collection, you will find the following scents:

  • Grand Canyon – Cactus Flower & Warm Breeze
  • American Samoa – Sweet Coconut & Island Palms
  • Hawai’i -Exotic Papaya & Hibiscus Flower
  • Denali – Soft Cotton Grass & Spring Air

If you were to ask me my favorite scent, it would be hard to pick just one. I like them all. Right now I have the Denali in use in my bathroom which leaves the bathroom smelling clean. For my living room or bedrooms I would go with any of the three other scents.

Air Wick National Park Scented Candle

For those that would rather burn a candle than use the scented oils to give your room a little fragrance, Air Wick also offers Scented Candles in the National Park Limited Edition collection too!

Radz Candy Dispensers Review

I received product samples to provide you with this review. No monetary compensation has been received and all thoughts and opinions stated herein are 100% my own.

Radz Candy Dispensers

Even though candy is full of sugar, there are times where mom spoils the kids and lets them have some candy. That is especially true when some candy come in cute little dispensers you can’t resist. As a child I used to collect the Pez candy dispensers. I remember getting so excited when I added a new dispenser to my collection.

I recently gave my two youngest a Radz Candy Dispenser, Lanyard and a couple bags each of the Radz candy so they could keep their new little dispensers stocked.

Radz Candy Dispensers

Being the kids that they are, they both had to compare each of the two dispensers and ended up trading. Once they decided on which Radz they wanted, I attached the lanyards so they could wear them around their neck. They then begin discussing the other Radz Candy Dispensers that they really want. For instance my son keeps reminding me that he really wants the penguin “Squeak”.

Radz Candy

Once we see these in stores, I know they are going to want to add more to their collection. These are going to make great stocking stuffers at Christmas time!

In addition to this providing fun from the candy, each of the Radz dispensers have a Radz code that included that you can use at www.RadzWorld.com where you can play free and fun games, videos and check out fan art. The online world of Radz has been designed for preschoolers that are already tech savvy and other kids with little help from parents. Help This Mom Make It To #BlogHer13

BlogHer13 seeking sponsorship

I have been lucky and able to attend the last two BlogHer conferences. My first conference was in San Diego where I was able to drive to the event. Last year BlogHer12 was in New York where I was sponsored by Mamalicious. This year I am wanting to go again. This is the place for bloggers to meet other bloggers “IRL” in real life and event the people behind the companies they have been working with.

If you are unfamiliar with BlogHer, it is an annual conference geared towards bloggers that brings over 3 thousand attendees together in one location from all over the world to not only meet with different brands that work with bloggers, but also network with other bloggers as well as get involved in different discussions, presentations, hands on experiences and much more.

For moms and others like me, going to BlogHer can be as exciting as going to Disney World for a kid. With raising 4 kids though, this mom doesn’t have a budget for flying to Chicago for a few days and is looking for sponsorship.

Here is an estimate of the cost to attend the BlogHer’13 Conference

BlogHerTicket: $152
Flight: $275-600 (Any airlines/Economy/Round Trip)
Total cost: $427-752 (approx)
I don’t want to ask for a bunch of sponsorships, I want just one.If you would like to sponsor my trip, here is what you will receive:
  • Social Media promotion during the conference (including live tweets, Facebook posts, Instagram, etc.)
  • Advertising on Mom’s Blog as well as the main site Mommy Enterprises (125×125 or 300×250 sidebar ad for 1 year)
  • Monthly blog posts – 3 featured posts
  • Any other posts published on Mom’s Blog about BlogHer will mention your sponsorship
  • Social Media promotion after conference – Includes weekly messages on Twitter and Facebook for 1 month

If you are interested in sponsoring me, please send me an email. If you would like a different sponsorship package that is different than what I have mentioned above, please feel free to ask and I can make a custom package for you.
