Must-Have Supplements and Vitamins For The Busy, Enterprising Mom

Moms have one of the hardest jobs – and working moms are nothing less than superheroes. That much we already know. But praise and accolades aren’t enough. What are some tools, strategies, resources, and assistance that can help moms who are managing incredible workloads and overwhelming situations?

Must-Have Supplements and Vitamins For The Busy, Enterprising Mom

This is a question that is all the more important during major public health crises – and surprise, surprise, we’re in one now! The Covid-19 pandemic has made everyone’s life harder. For parents, things have been made more stressful by the fact that schools are closed, which means that the kids are ALWAYS at home and wanting attention and entertainment. For working parents, the vast majority of whom are also working from home during this chaos, it means they are having to balance the needs of their kids and the needs of their employer or clients/customers.

Another part of this equilibrium is balancing their own needs. In the adventure of taking care of your children and taking care of your professional duties, it’s easy to forget about yourself – your own mind and body – and over time this can lead to getting run down, sick, depressed, and burnt out.

So this post will outline a few vitamins, supplements, and nutrients that are recommended for busy, enterprising moms who need their superhuman energy replenished and revitalized from time to time.

Thiamin (B1)

Perhaps one of the most unsung heroes of the vitamin world is thiamin, whose benefits as a critical B1 vitamin are well-documented. Thiamin, which can be processed from fermented quinoa and works synergistically with co-nutrient magnesium, helps the body breakdown and absorb fats and carbohydrates. It also directs a critical central and peripheral nervous system function called oxidative ATP synthesis.

Thiamin’s two major benefits are increased energy levels and enhanced brain function. Obviously, energy is indispensable when dealing with both kids and work. So, too, is your brain power. Clinical studies on hundreds of women have shown that thiamin promotes better moods and elevated levels of concentration, reaction time, and memory in women. The study also showed elevated energy levels.

All the other B vitamins

We highlighted thiamin because sometimes it gets overlooked. But the rest of the B vitamins are also critical for the body.

Vitamin B2, or riboflavin, works as an antioxidant, defending your body’s cells against the ravages of free radicals. Vitamin B3, or niacin, protects the heart and is believed to lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. Vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid, helps regulate hormone production, promotes a strong immune system, and also delivers energy. Vitamin B6, or pyridoxine, helps protect your cells with a protective shield made of myelin. Vitamin B7, or biotin, helps metabolism, cell growth, and protects the health of your skin, hair, and nails. Vitamin B9, or folate, helps regulate and fuel a healthy nervous system. And last but not least, vitamin B12, or cobalamin, protects your body’s red blood cells and nerve cells.

Usually, you can get all of these B vitamins with a single B multivitamin. However, some people have specific imbalances or deficiencies that require them to take specially formulated B vitamins that can deliver the proper increments they need.

CoQ10

Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) used to be relatively unknown but in recent years has gained a lot of attention. This antioxidant is naturally produced by the body, but as you get older, your levels decrease. It’s important to supplement these levels for the proper growth and maintenance of your cellular energy production and heart health.

Studies have also shown that CoQ10 helps with diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, migraines, and physical performance.

This list is not comprehensive, of course. There are hundreds of vitamins, minerals, nutrients, and supplements that can help enterprising moms boost energy levels and keep themselves healthy. However, the items on this list are a good start for any parent who is trapped at home with children and professional work duties.
