Five Ways To Prepare For A Long Vacation Day In Nashville With The Family

Nashville can be a great place to go on vacation! It’s an even better place to go with the family.  There’s so much to do and so much to see. You can rest assured that no one in your family will spend a single moment of your vacation bored!

However, just because Nashville is a great vacation location doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed a good time. Things can go downhill fast when you’re traveling with little ones. They can get cranky, and cranky attitudes can completely ruin your day.

Five Ways To Prepare For A Long Vacation Day In Nashville with the Family

Don’t leave your vacation to chance! Follow these tips when you know you and your family are about ready to face a long vacation day.

Don’t Do Too Much in One Day

There are a lot of great things to do in Nashville. From catching a country music show to booking Nashville tours, you could keep the entire family busy from the second you wake up until the moment you close your eyes.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

Although you should plan fun things to do during the day, you shouldn’t plan to do too much. It’s easy for children to get overtired. The last thing you want to do is fight with an overtired child when you’re supposed to be having fun.

Listen to the Kids

Not planning too much to do during the day is a good start, but you also have to make sure you listen carefully to the kids throughout the day.

You know what behavior is normal for your child. If they start behaving differently, you should think carefully about what’s causing that behavior, then take action before their behavior ruins your plans.

For example, if it’s getting close to lunch, it could mean that your child is getting hungry. Take a break and grab something to eat.

Kids squabbling? Don’t be afraid to divide and conquer. You can take one of the kids to do something while another adult in your group takes a few of the other kids. It gives the kids some much needed space, and it allows everyone to make some special memories.

Let Them Have Some Control over the Day

By paying attention to your child’s behavior, you’re essentially allowing them some control over your day as it unfolds, but you should allow them to have some control over the day before it even begins. You can do that by letting your children help plan your next vacation!

Allowing your children to plan activities ensures they are able to do something on vacation that they really want to do, and it also gives them something to look forward to. That excitement can help them maintain a better mood throughout the day, even if you are facing a particularly long day on your vacation.

Plan Time to Rest and Relax

It doesn’t matter what the kids want to do for the day or what you want to do for the day, you should plan in plenty of time to rest and relax.

Although you may be tempted to pack in as much as you can on your vacation, it’s actually much better to plan one or two things to do every day, then plan to relax the rest of the time. A few examples of ways you can plan to relax include:

  • the Parthenon.
  • Head back to the hotel to watch a movie or take a nap.
  • Spend some time relaxing next to the pool at the hotel.

Snacks and Drinks

There are a lot of things that can make you and your children grouchy on a long day, but nothing can ruin moods more quickly than hunger. Make sure you’re always prepared by traveling with snacks. That might mean having your child’s favorite candy bar handy to get them through the afternoon, or it could mean keeping nuts in your bag to stave of a growly stomach before you can make it to dinner.

Don’t forget about something to drink! Carry around a water bottle that can be refilled throughout the day so you never have to drop what you’re doing just to find something to drink.

Vacation days can be long. That can spell disaster if you’re traveling with younger family members, but it doesn’t have to. With these tips, you can prepare for even the longest day, so everyone makes it to the end of the day in a great mood.
