Growing up I remember my mom and my grandmother always reminding me to eat breakfast.  As a parent I make sure that my children eat breakfast every day. When they get up and get ready for school, they also have breakfast before class starts to make sure they get their day off to a good start. On the weekends we try to eat breakfast as a family because during the week mornings are hectic and quick breakfast options are a must.

  1. Break the fast – If you have been sleeping you body’s metabolism is slower because you have not ate for hours. By eating breakfast in the morning you will get your metabolism going to start burning those calories throughout the day.
  2. Improved mood – When you skip breakfast you might feel tired or even irritable. By eating breakfast you can help to boost your mood because when you eat breakfast you also boost levels of serotonin in your blood that helps to balance your mood, appetite and sleep.
  3. Essential nutrients – By eating a healthy breakfast you will provide your body with the nutrients like Vitamin B, iron, fiber and other important essentials that your body needs that you can only get through food. If you don’t got time to cook, many restaurants offer healthy options on their breakfast menu to get you off to a good start.
  4. Better chance of fighting illness – When you skip breakfast this only makes your immune system weaker. Be sure to make sure you eat a healthy breakfast every day to help keep those germs away!
  5. Loose weight – Those people who eat breakfast tend to weigh less than those that don’t. Research has shown that people who eat a healthy breakfast have a better chance of losing weight and keeping it off.  Those that skip breakfast are usually so hungry by lunch that they will grab something high in calories rather than a low calorie option.
