One thing about pasta is you can make so many different dishes with it. Last night I asked my daughter what she wanted for dinner and she said something with pesto! I went to the store, grabbed a few things and went home to make a delicious and easy pesto side dish to go with my chicken I was making in my Instant Pot.
Making this pesto pasta is EASY! You will need some Farfalle pasta (bowtie), some pesto, some heavy cream and some cooking oil. This is a recipe that you can make in about 20 minutes or LESS!
You can eat it as just a side dish on your plate or throw in some cut up chicken breast to make it a meal. When I made this pasta I bought the pre-made pesto that I found in the deli at the grocery store. You can also buy it in a jar usually in the isle with the spaghetti sauce or you can made your own homemade pesto sauce too!
Easy Pesto Pasta Side Dish
An easy pesto pasta side dish recipe.
- 1/2 pound Farfalle pasta cooked
- 1 cup pesto
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp olive oil
In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and allow to heat for about 5-10 seconds.
Add the pesto and use a whisk to mix it into the oil. Keep stirring while the pesto is warming up.
Once your pesto and olive oil mixture is warm warmed slowly pour in the heavy whipping cream and use a whisk to blend. I used 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream but you can use more if you want your sauce creamy.
Reduce heat to low and continue to stir mixture to blend the cream and the pesto mixture.
Add cooked pasta into skillet and stir well to coat all your pasta in the pesto mixture. Remove from heat and serve.
