Del Taco Fresca Bowls + Giveaway #FrescaBowls

For those that have a Del Taco near, they have added something to their menu that you must might want to try. This month I had the opportunity to take a trip with the family to Del Taco to try their new Fresca Bowls.

The Del Taco Fresca Bowls come in three different varieties and are priced at only $4 each. Each bowl is served on a bed of fresca lime rice and seasoned black beans. Here are three different varieties that you can choose from:

Southwest Grilled Chicken & Veggie Bowl combines fresh-grilled chicken and a blend of fire-roasted, red and green bell peppers, caramelized onions and flavorful Poblano pepper
Pollo Asado Grilled Chicken Bowl is made with marinated, fresh-grilled chicken, hand-chopped pico de gallo salsa, onions and cilantro
Fire Roasted Veggie Bowl features Del Taco’s tangy green chile sauce, freshly-chopped pico de gallo salsa, and a blend of roasted vegetables

While all there sounded good, I decided to go with the Pollo Asado Grilled Chicken Bowl. When your Fresca Bowl is ready to eat, you get to be the one to mix it all together.

I can’t go to Del Taco without ordering my favorite meal on the menu. I love their chicken soft tacos and their crinkle cut fries. All three of these together made for one big feast! I should have ordered the Del Taco Fresca Bowl alone because it was very filling by itself. What I did was share what I didn’t eat with the hubby.

The Pollo Asado Grilled Chicken Bowl that I ordered is only 500 calories. The Southwest Grilled Chicken & Veggie Bowl is 530 calories and for those looking to cut back on the calories or looking to go “no meat”, I would recommend the Fire Roasted Veggie Bowl that has only 450 calories. Makes a great lunch or dinner option for only $4.

Get Grilling With Fresh Veggies From Safeway + $50 Gift Card Giveaway

Now that I am getting OLDER, I tend to want to eat more vegetables instead of the junk food that I have craved for years. Instead of chips, I would rather some grilled vegetables or a cold peach or plum. Last month I received a basket of fresh vegetables and fruits from Safeway. The first thing I put to use was the big bell peppers!

Before I used to boil my vegetables. I then learned that boiling my vegetables was taking away some or maybe even most of the nutrients in the veggies. I have since found other ways to keep my vegetables nutrient packed like by grilling them instead. Two of my favorite veggies to put on the grill are sliced bell peppers and squash.

Before you grill your bell peppers you got to cut them in half and clean out the insides. Once they are clean, cut each of your bell peppers into in 1″-2″ strips.

If you have some squash that you want to grill you can wash them and cut the squash into into 1″ – 2″ slices too!

For those that want to give your veggies a little extra flavor, add the cut bell pepper and squash into a bowl and then drizzle some melted butter over your veggies and toss to coat evenly. This isn’t a must for grilling but I think it gives the veggies some nice flavor.

Once your veggies are ready, put them on the grill. My indoor grill comes in very handy for making grilled veggies in the kitchen. You can also choose to make foil packets with these veggies inside and place them on an outdoor grill as well. The amount of time on the grill is going to depend on how well you like your veggies cooked. The longer you grill them, the softer they will become.

Now once those veggies are grilled to your liking, you can either eat them alone as a snack or add them to your meal.

This is just one idea that you can use when it comes to putting those veggies to use in the kitchen. I have to say that I really prefer the produce at Safeway over the produce at the other grocery stores I shop at. The produce comes from local growers, is FRESH and lasts longer in my fridge!

For those that have a Save Mart Supermarket near, they have started a promotion for free cookware like I remember from my childhood. Now until January 20, 2015, every time you spend $10 you will receive a bonus stamp that can be applied towards a new and FREE Thomas fry pan, grill pan, sauce pan or maybe even a casserole pan.

As many of you already know I really enjoy cooking. I also really love the idea of earning free Thomas Cook & Pour cookware just for shopping for everyday groceries. There are nine different pieces that you can choose to save your bonus stamps for. Six of the nine you can get completely free just for saving a certain amount of stamps while there are three that you have to pay a small amount of $4.99 – $5.99 in addition to the bonus stamps.

If you have saved some stamps and don’t want to wait, each of the nine pieces allows you to get a great deal on the cookware by using half the amount of bonus stamps. For example, you can get the Thomas Casserole Pan with Glass Lid for free with 100Bonus Stamps. Or you can choose to only use 50 bonus stamps and pay $11.99 for the pan.

I made a trip to the the Save Mart that is closest to me to pickup a couple of the Thomas Cookware items. I have to say that I LOVE Save Mart and wish I had one closer. Not only do I like their low prices, they always seem to have a great selection of products in the bakery and produce isle that I don’t see at other stores I shop at. Now that I can earn some nice cookware I think I should be doing most of my shopping at Save Mart.

Ever since I used non-stick cookware I can’t go back. I use skillets and fry pans almost daily and have been enjoying using my new Thomas Nonstick Fry Pan. It is stainless steel, 10″ wide and has a DuPont Teflon non-stick coating to keep my food from sticking and also easy cleaning.

I have the 10″ fry pan as well as the Thomas Sauce Pan that is going to come in real handy when I am making pasta and yummy sauces. I now really want the other pieces to this collection, especially the 11″ Thomas Nonstick Grill Pan. I love that with this collection has been designed to go straight from the stove to the oven!

Cute & Fun Stuff For The LalaLoopsy Fans #TeamLalaLoopsy

When you are raising daughters you hope that they enjoy the days of being a kid and not try to grow up so fast. My daughter Hannah is my youngest daughter who enjoys playing games with her brother, but she also likes to play with girly toys like the cute Lalaloopsy dolls that I received to review.

When I received an email to become a Lalaloopsy Insider, I couldn’t wait to tell Hannah. I asked her now that she is 10, did she still like the Lalaloopsy girls and she said yes. She was so EXCITED when she found out that not only were we going to receive some dolls, but we are also going to receive the Lalaloopsy Baking Oven too!

When I told Hannah it was time to cook with the new LalaLoopsy Baking Oven she couldn’t wait to take it out of the box. I will have to admit it was fun helping her take the stuff out the box. It reminded me how much fun I had when I was a child with my very own little oven.

One thing I love about my kids is their desire to cook like mom. All of my kids see me always in the busy enjoying cooking so it is something they enjoy learning and helping out with too. When it comes to baking, Hannah doesn’t get to use the oven in the kitchen on her own, but she is able to use the Lalaloopsy Baking Oven without my supervision.

This weekend Hannah had a blast making cookies and a cake for her and her brother.

Shop For The Brands You Love At Zappos

Last month I shared that I am a Zappos.com Ambassador. I have to admit that I had a little fun on their website last month when I did some back to school shopping for the kids. I ordered shoes for the kids, shoes for mom and dad and even some clothes. What was even more fun was opening all of the Zappos boxes that arrived on my door just one business day later!

When it comes to buying shoes for my kids I always go with the name brands. Not only does it make my kids feel good that they are wearing “cool shoes”, they also seem to always last longer and provide more wear and tear. I love that at Zappos.com you can find a variety of different popular brands all in one site.

My little guy isn’t the easiest to buy shoes for. He has these little wide feet that don’t like to fit in most of the shoes I want to buy for him. What I like about the Zappos.com website is the ability to search shoes by Wide Width! I was excited when I found these adorable New Balance Kids 890v4 Running Shoes.

When it comes to shopping for clothes online, it is easiest to buy clothes for my son whereas my daughters prefer to try on their clothes before they buy. Since I really like the Nike brand, I found this cute Nike Kids X-ray Heart GFA Tee and Nike Kids Monster Mesh Shorts on the site that I had to order for my son. As soon as my son seen the shirt, he couldn’t wait to wear it to school to show his friends.
