I am a mom that LOVES to be in the kitchen cooking. There are nights that I prefer to eat out, but for the most part I enjoy making meals for my family at home. My kitchen is a little small, but it is filled with all sorts of appliances, gadgets and tools to make my life a little easier.

Gordon Ramsey Everyday Chef Knives

I just recently added the Gordon Ramsay Everday Chef Knives 8 Piece Block Set to my kitchen counter. I think the stainless steel blades and the black handles together make a great combination and I LOVE the wood block.

The Gordon Ramsay Every Chef Knives 8 Piece Block Set contains the following:

  • 3″ Paring Knife
  • 4″ Utility Knife
  • 6″ Boning Knife
  • 7″ Santoki Knife
  • 8″ Chef Knife
  • 8″ Carving Knife

What I like about this set is the variety of knives that you receive. With my old set, almost all of the knives where the same size. With this set, you are able to cut, mince, dice and carve. On Christmas if I make a turkey, I am going to definitely put the 8″ carving knife to use. i know I will be putting all of these knives to work eventually, especially the bread knife.

Kid Friendly Side Dishes From Birds Eye Vegetables + Yakimaniac Veggie Martians Recipe

Almost every night I make a home cooked meal for the entire family that includes some sort of side dish that includes veggies. One kind of vegetable that everyone likes but my son is green beans, so I am always looking for new ideas on dishes I can make that includes green beans.

This month I have tried a few of the Steamfresh Chef’s Favorites from Birdseye as a side dish to our meals. These come in a variety of options that include vegetables, potatoes, pasta and different sauces. What is neat is they are ready to serve in about  5 minutes. When you cook them, at end you can hear them steaming in the microwave.

Birdseye Steamfresh Red PotatoesMy favorite is the Lightly Sauced Roasted Red Potatoes and Green Beans. I LOVE the combination of these two along with the yummy Parmesan sauce. This would be perfect for a dinner for 2 and I can’t wait to try some of the other varieties.

On the Birdseye website, they have a section just for KID inspired recipes. You can find A TON of very WILD creations that kids have made using veggies. You will actually find over 16 thousand recipes created from a virtual kitchen as part of the iCarly iCook with Birds Eye initiative. At my house we like to watch iCarly, so it is neat to see the show involved with veggies! I can’t wait to make some of the recipes submitted by other fans with my 8 year old that is a big fan of iCarly and maybe get crafty and submit our own.

Watching this video makes me want to encourage my kids to get creative with vegetables too. I was just explaining to my 8 year old the importance of vegetables and why it is important to eat them and it would be great if they came up with a veggie recipe to submit.

Yakimaniac Veggie Martians Recipe – from iCarly

Ingredients
  • 1 bag (12 oz.) Steamfresh® Broccoli Florets, cooked according to package directions, divided
  • 1 bag (12 oz.) Steamfresh® Mixed Vegetables, cooked according to package directions, divided
  • 1 package (16.3 oz.) refrigerated biscuits (8 biscuits)
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup plain Greek style yogurt
  • 3 oz. cream cheese, softened
  • Green glitter icing gel
  • Thin pretzel sticks
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. In medium bowl, combine 1 cup cooked broccoli florets and 2 cups cooked mixed vegetables with Swiss cheese, yogurt and cream cheese, blending well.
  3. Separate biscuits in half into 16 pieces; roll or press each half into 4-inch rounds. On ungreased baking sheet arrange 8 rounds. Evenly top each with rounded 1/4 cup vegetable mixture, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Top with remaining biscuit rounds. Press edges to seal. Brush each with glitter gel.
  4. Bake 15 to 17 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
  5. Decorate each “Martian” with reserved vegetables and serve with remaining vegetables.

Disney's Santa Paws 2 Blu-ray Combo Pack

In less than a month, Christmas will be here and I am excited. I LOVE this time of year and look forward to all the holiday music and especially the Christmas movies. If you are looking for a cute movie to watch with the family, Disney’s Santa Paws 2 just came out last week on Blu-ray and DVD.

The North Pole has a new litter of playful pups! However, when the frisky foursome—Hope, Jingle, Charity and Noble—practically destroy Santa’s Workshop with their mischievous gamboling, they realize the best way to prove that they’re responsible enough to become Santa’s Helpers is to show how well they can spread the Christmas spirit all by themselves. With help from a magic crystal, they start granting everyone’s wishes. But their good intentions backfire when one unhappy boy asks that Christmas go away forever! With his wish impetuously fulfilled, and the joyous spirit quickly disappearing from the planet, Mrs. Claus and the pups have to find a way to reverse the spell—or risk losing Christmas forever!

This was a movie that I watched with my two youngest and thought it was a good family movie. I think my children enjoyed watching all the scenes where the dogs get into mischief the most!

Shop On eBay For Gifts For The Holiday

Ever since eBay launched, I have been buying things on their website. Whenever I need to find something I need to buy (besides groceries), I can usually find it on eBay. Not only have I been an customer on the Ebay website, I have also sold many things through auctions and even had my own eBay store at one time. I just LOVE the site and plan on doing some of my holiday shopping on eBay next month.

My daughter Hannah is really wanting that Fortune Cookie Maker that she keeps seeing on TV commercials. I searched on eBay and I have some different options available. I can either Buy It Now for $42.98 or I can bid on another auction for the product in hopes of getting it for a cheaper price. Sometimes you can find Free Shipping Deals with the Buy It Now auctions to make buying it online cheaper than wasting gas going to the store for the item.

If you ask my son what he wants this year, he really wants the Farmville Hungry Herd game. When shopping on eBay, you have to pay attention to all of your choices. See the two choices below. At first you might thinkt he first option is the best deal since it is only $24.99, but this one has a shipping fee of $7.49. If I was to buy this game, I would definitely go with the section option that offers FREE shipping.

If I was shopping on eBay for my oldest daughter, she has been wanting the Beats by Dr. Dre Monster iBeats Earbuds Headphone. Right now I can score a set of those for only $49.99 with FREE shipping. This totally beats me driving around to the mall or other electronics stores to find these.

Next on my shopping list would be for my second oldest. If she could have anything, she would probably want a pair of Ugg boots which I found on eBay. Now I want another pair! She is also wanting a pair of the glitter Toms like mine, but in silver.

This Mom Is A Wet Ones Ambassador
