It seems as if we just celebrated Christmas and now the Easter season is already upon us. Although Easter usually doesn’t involve the same level of financial outlay, it nevertheless comes at a time when many of us are still reeling from too much Christmas spending. …

Saving Money on Utilities
This winter has definitely been a cold one. While I live in sunny California, there are days when it isn’t so sunny and there is a need to turn on the heater. Since I am one of those moms that is frugal and always trying to save money, I have been looking for ways to save on the heating bill, so I have more money to spend on other things.
For those of you that like to use your heater, but don’t like the bill each month, I have some tips that you can use to help cut down your bill.
- Keep the doors closed – This is a great way to avoid the cold air from escaping in. If you have to open the door, do it fast!
- Invest in warm blankets – If you use multiple blankets that will keep you warm, you might be able to turn the thermostat down.
- Use your ceiling fan – Heat rises! Set your ceiling fan on low and set it to circulate the air up instead of down.
- Trap the leaks around your windows – Using caulk, you can seal your windows to prevent any unwanted drafts.
- Use a programmable thermostat – Keep your auto function on, and set to a low, warm temperature.
- Cover up the door drafts – For those with a draft under your door, use a blanket to block it. Doing this will help prevent your heat from escaping.
These are just a few ways to help save money on your heating bill that I thought I would share. I know I am probably not the only one looking to save money on utility bills.
Saving money on your utilities can help you have extra money for those of you looking for a little debt relief. I have saved money through the years to pay off credit card bills that I created once I turned 18. I learned that I only want to spend what I have and cut up the credit cards. Luckily I got help from a debt management company that showed me how paying just a little extra on each of your bills will help you pay off debt faster.

Sea Monkeys: Cute Or Creepy?
So I thought it would be fun to give my son Sea Monkeys.
We followed the instructions and waited a couple weeks for these Sea Monkeys to hatch. We then gave up after not seeing anything, but I didn’t throw it away. I left it sitting in the window in the kitchen and one day I seen something moving. I was like no way and looked closer. To my surprise there were little things moving around, the Sea Monkeys had hatched. It has been a few weeks and we have fed them once and they are BREEDING.
At first I thought they were cute, but now I think they are starting to creep me out. They look like they are growing more and more body parts, like EYES.
To think these came out of a package!
So now what do I do with them?
Clipix – A Neat Way To Organize Your Bookmarks + More
I have a bad habit of bookmarking websites and letting my bookmarks pile up. My bookmarks can really et unorganized because I like to bookmark. Sometimes I will bookmark in a rush and if the website owner doesn’t have the title correctly put on the page I am bookmarking, whatever my browser thinks the title is, will be the name of that website in my bookmarks.
For those sites that have pages called “Untitled”, I probably won’t be finding you very soon in my bookmarks.
I have now found a neat way to organize my bookmarks where I have a visual instead of a description. I have signed up with clipix and just started to bookmark and organize my recipes along with recipes that I have bookmarked that I want to make.
Here is a screenshot of what my Clipix “My Recipes” Clipboard looks like.
With Clipix, you put a little bookmarker on your browser’s toolbar, then when you are on a page you want to bookmark, you click the bookmarker and it will popup with a box to add your bookmark. Here is what it looks like to bookmark with Clipix.
Like I mentioned before, I am using this site to keep track of my bookmark for recipes. With a visual bookmark for my food recipes, it is going to be easy to find what I need when I am ready to get cooking. Here are some other ideas for bookmarking you might want to use:
- Crafts you want to try
- Vacation ideas
- Gift ideas
- Products you want to buy
- Recipes that you have made or want to try
