New Movies on Blu-ray This Month

Since the weather has been finally cold, I got some time this past weekend to snuggle in my bed and watch two movies that were just released onto Blu-ray yesterday.

The first movie that I watched was Sweet Home Alabama. This was my second or third time watching this movie and probably won’t be the last. I am a fan of Reese Witherspoon and I just LOVE the plot to this story.

Synopsis: Melanie Carmichael, an up and rising fashion designer in New York, has gotten almost everything she wished for since she was little. She has a great career and the JFK-like fiancée of New York City. But when he proposes to her, she doesn’t forget about her family back down South. More importantly, her husband backthere, who refuses to divorce her ever since she sent divorce papers seven years ago. To set matters straight, she decides to go to the south quick and make him sign the papers. When things don’t turn out the way she planned them, she realizes that what she had before in the south was far more perfect than the life she had in New York City.

The second movie that I watched this weekend was Beaches. This was actually the first time I have ever seen this movie even though it originally debuted in 1991. When this film first came out I was in high school and didn’t have much time for much, never the less movies that had sad but happy endings. If you have never seen this one, it might just leave you in tears.

Synopsis: When the irrepressible C.C. Bloom and the shy and proper Hilary Whitney meet for the first time under the boardwalk, the 11 year olds have something in common, they both need a best friend. They continue to stay friends even thought they live different lifestyles and are worlds apart by keeping in touch through letters and phone calls.

These are two great movies that you will want to add to your Blu-ray collection! They also might make great gifts for those that are fans of Bette Middler, Reese Witherspoon or Patrick Dempsey. Both of these titles happen to be on sale right now on Amazon for under $15 too!

Disney’s Secret Of The Wings Review and Prize Pack Giveaway

When it comes to all the different Disney characters, the one that I see the most around my house is Tinkerbell. When we found out that there was a new Tinker Bell movie, all of us girls got excited, even mom! We had to have a copy and to make thinks even better, this one is available on Blu-ray.

Journey with Tinker Bell and her fairy friends into the forbidden world of the mysterious Winter Woods, where curiosity and adventure lead Tink to an amazing discovery and reveal a magical secret that could change her world forever.

In this new Disney film “Secret Of The Wings“,  Tinkerbell makes a voyage into the Winter Woods that is strictly off limits to the fairies where she encounters Periwinkle, a frost-talent fairy that happens to be her fraternal twin sister.

My daughter Hannah was so excited when she watched this movie. She is the biggest of our Tinkerbell fans and has already asked to watch the movie again. Not only do we now have one favorite Disney fairy, we now have another! This movie has a cast of some other cute fairies too, like Silvermist, Fawn, Iridessa and Rosetta.

Wreck-It Ralph – Film Review + Movie Clip

For the last couple months I have seen the trailer for Wreck-It Ralph and couldn’t wait to see it. Not only was it a new Disney movie that was coming out, it also involved video games which I have always been a fan of. I got to see a screening of Wreck-It Ralph last month and LOVED the movie.

In this new Disney film that opened in theaters yesterday, Ralph plays the role of a bad guy in his video game “Fix-It-Felix” that is always destroying things and upsetting the other characters of his game. Ralph gets tired of being the bad guy and being overshadowed by Felix and wants a better life in his game so he  takes matters in his own hands and goes on a journey through the arcade through multiple generations of video games to prove that he is a HERO and not a bad guy.

On his quest to show everyone in his game that he is a hero, he meets the Vanellope von Schweetz from the candy-coated cart racing game “Sugar Rush”. Vanellope has a dream to race in the game and Ralph does what he can to help her build her own sugar coated car to race. He then find out she is a glitch that could be lost forever and has to decide whether to be the bad guy and help her or destroy her car so she can’t race. Ralph also accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens all the games in the arcade.

What I LOVED about this movie is seeing some flashbacks of video games that I used to play when I was young.  I also LOVED the “Sugar Rush” game in this film and my favorite character would have to be Vanellope von Schweetz. I even wore  CUTE Vanellope t-shirt to the movie!

 

If you are looking for something to see with the kids this weekend, I totally recommend watching Wreck-It Ralph.

Disney On Ice 100 Years Of Magic – Review + Ticket Info

Last night was a magical night! We attended the first night of the new Disney On Ice 100 Years Of Magic show in Sacramento last night and it was AWESOME!

What makes this show different than all of the other Disney On Ice shows I have seen in the past is the amount of characters and stories that were involved. Last night there were skits from 18 classic Disney stories and over 60 characters that kept the little ones eyes glued to the arena floor. My son who is 4 normally gets bored after the first half, but I was impressed on how involved he was with the show and how much he was paying attention. My daughter who is 8 kept her eyes on the show the whole time.

I loved the whole show and I could go on forever talking about each of the scenes that I liked. My favorites from last night’s show would have to be Beauty & The Beast, Pinnochio with Jiminy Cricket, Snow White, The Small World, and of course one of my all time Disney favorites, the Lion King. I asked my kids what their favorite characters were and my daughter is going with all of the Disney Princesses, especially Cinderella. My son is like me and loved The Lion King and was hoping for a Lion King stuffed animal souvenir which we couldn’t find. He settled for some cool blue binoculars to watch the show with and my daughter got a CUTE Cinderella necklace.


Being a fan of The Lion King, I was pretty excited that this story happened to be the last story shown right before the finale to end the show perfectly! Take a peek at this little preview to the The Lion King I took to share with you:
