Rubbermaid Glass Containers with Easy Find Lids Review and Giveaway

Since I am one that enjoys cooking, I also am a big fan of the Rubbermaid products. When I spend my time cooking up meals for my family and there is food that is left over, I want to be able to save them so that we can enjoy some the next day. Now in the past, I have always used plastic Rubbermaid products. Before, when I would hear the name “Rubbermaid”, I would automatically picture plastic containers with lids. I am sure there are many of you that think the same way.

Now my thinking has changed! I received a set of the 8 Piece Rubbermaid Glass Containers with Easy Find Lids for review and I am impressed. Ever since I have been trying to be more “eco-friendly”, I have been trying to buy more glass products than plastic, especially when it comes to items that we use in the kitchen such as cups, straws, plates, etc.

When I first heard that Rubbermaid had glass containers with lids, I got excited. I was even more excited when they arrived and I was able to start using them. Not only are these microwave safe, you can also use them in the oven (up to 425 degrees)! That means if I bake something in it and cook more than we need, I can always pop the lid on it and stick it in the fridge. Then the next day, pop it back in the microwave to re-heat. This past month these glass containers have really came in handy.

Here are some features that I want to mention:

The bases and lids are BPA FREE
Oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe
Bases and lids neatly nest inside each other for compact organization in your cabinets
Features the Easy Find Lids organization system – lids snap to the bottom of the container and to each other to make finding the right lid quick and easy

I like that there are a variety of sizes, especially the smallest one!

I use my small Rubbermaid glass container to store my leftover fondant when I am baking and making my pretty cakes! One feature that is important is the built-in gasket that creates a leak-proof seal to keep my food airtight. Now I can make my fondant the night before and store it in these glass containers so I can use it the next day, when it applies onto the cake the best.

The Gruffalo DVD Review & Giveaway

Last night I was in the mood to watch something with the kids, so I thought I would make it our Family Movie Night. When it comes to kid’s movies, I tend to be picky because I like to watch movies that keep my interest. I also prefer the movies not to be “too long” I was going to look for something on cable but remembered that I had a copy of the movie The Gruffalo in my room to review. I grabbed the DVD, called the kids to the living room and all sat together on the couches to watch the movie that I was holding onto, for this special occasion.

The cover of this movie is what caught my attention. I would have to say that the Gruffalo is cute, but in a “not really” way. This is a movie is based on the bestselling children’s picture book written by Julia Donaldson that tells the magical tale of this little cute mouse that takes a walk through the woods in search of a nut. As the mouse walks through the woods, he counters three animals that want to eat him. He then has to make up a story to each one of them to scare them into not eating him. He makes up a story about a mean monster called a ‘Gruffalo”. He then comes face to face with the monster and has to again talk his way out of getting eaten.

This is a cute story and appropriate for all. The Gruffalo will be available for purchase on DVD on August 16, 2011. Also, be sure to stop by The Gruffalo Facebook Page for more info on this great movie!

Paper Jamz Pro Series Microphone Review & Giveaway

My daughter Hannah LOVES to dress up and she also LOVES to sing. I am a big music fan and am always listening to music, so I can see where she gets it from. Last month was her 7th birthday so we had to throw a party. For us, there is no party without music. During the party, Hannah and her friends had a blast singing different tunes with the Paper Jamz Pro Series Microphone.

For kids that love to sing, the Paper Jamz Pro Series Microphone from WowWee is a perfect gift. My daughter Hannah couldn’t put this toy down when she first received it. It actually started to annoy me after a few days, so I told her that she would need to sing in her room. The microphone I guess is similar to karaoke, but you have just a mic, speaker and some tunes. No words to help you out, you are on your own. The microphone system comes with 2 pre-loaded songs, but you can use the Paper Jamz Pro app to add your own songs.

Honey Ridge Farms – Honey Creme & Honey Grill Sauce Review & Giveaway

For those that follow my blog, you know that I LOVE to cook. I am always looking for new spices, condiments and other foodie products that will enhance my dishes that I create for my family. This past month I have been using a couple products from Honey Ridge Farms to review. This is a family-owned company that was founded in 2004, located in Brush Prairie, WA.

Since I love to cook chicken rather it be on the stove or the grill, I often use a BBQ sauce or grilling sauce when preparing our chicken. I use these types of condiments as a marinade as well as on the chicken when it is cooking because I like my food to have FLAVOR.

We received the Honey Ridge Farm’s Honey Grill Sauce for review and I was excited to try it. This is an All Natural and Gluten-FREE grilling sauce that is available in Mild, Medium and Hot. I have been using their Medium sauce and it is PERFECT. I used this as a grilling sauce as well as a dipping sauce for our chicken. This grilling sauce is sweet but also has a spicy kick to it too, but not hot enough for the kids to complain. My 7 year old daughter Hannah actually commented and said that the BBQ sauce tasted GOOD!

Since I sometimes like my food a little on the spicy side, I am very tempted to try their HOT version of this sauce too!

The next item that we received to review was some of the Honey Ridge Farm’s Clover Honey Creme. I have to say that I am a big fan of honey creme. I remember as a child eating scones with my grandmother and putting a honey creme on the top. Since then, I have bought different types of honey to bring back the memories of my grandmother and I eating scones at the little restaurant at the Farmer’s Market and Auction.

Now we received the Clover Honey Creme, but it is also available in other flavors. You can also find this YUMMY All-Natural Honey creme in seven flavors including: Clover, Apricot, Lemon, Blackberry, Spiced, Cranberry and Raspberry They also come in three different sizes and are dairy and gluten-free. I can’t wait to try their other flavors. I not only like to use this for scones, this is a great replacement for jelly if you like peanut butter sandwiches. I heard it is also great on pancakes, waffles, breads, cakes and more.
