Tips to Save
your summer energy
We all know that
our energy bills can sometimes be very costly, especially in the
summer when we are trying to keep our families, pets, and our home
cool. Below are some tips to save on your energy and cut costs on
your energy bill
Keep
your thermostat at 78 degrees. You can save approx 6% to 7% of your
cooling costs for each degree above 78. Check your local utility
company for special programs you might be eligible for as well.
Use the auto setting on your air conditioner. Keeping the home at
a steady temperature will use less energy.
Use your microwave and other counter top appliances such as a toaster
oven or a grilling machine instead of using your conventional oven.
Use shades or drapes over windows to block the sun from coming in
which can heat up your home. Darker shades or drapes will work best.
Keep all doors closed to keep the cool air in. Caulk and weather
strip any windows or doors that leak air. This will prevent hot
air from coming in as your cool air from sneaking out.
