Q.
Mom, what is your business? Tell us a little bit about it.
A. Well, I started an online community and monthly newsletter
in January for moms living in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. It was my
way of getting moms together and also informing them of different aspects
of their lives. The newsletter helps but after eight months of marketing,
searching for links and content, and marketing more, I decided that I wanted
to offer this for all moms. So, I started 'Links For Moms' a little over
a month ago. 'Links For Moms' is a website full of links to other "mom"
sites including newsletters and discussion groups. Articles are added every
few days to keep the site fresh and there are banners of my affiliates for
moms who want to shop. The website has 5 categories: Career & Business,
Money & Finance, House & Home, Parenting, and Health
Q. How long has this business been around?
A. I started 'Links For Moms' a little over a month
ago
Q. Are you happy with your business or is there something
different you
would like to do or add to your business?
A.
Right now, I am very excited and have many goals for 'Links For Moms' so
I guess we'll soon see...
Q. Do
you feel like your business is a success in your eyes. Is this the
business that truly makes you happy?
A. A business is only successful for what you put into
it and give to the consumers needs and wants. Information and access is
important in this day and time and that's why 'Links For Moms' is there.
No hoopla, just outright information and resources. I enjoy researching
for links and content even though it is time consuming. But my greatest
pleasure is knowing that
busy moms don't have to "consume their valuable time" when they
visit 'Links For Moms'. They know it's there and more resources will be
following when next they visit the site.
Q. What advice can you give to other moms that want to work from
home?
A. Keep
thinking and daydreaming,, keep researching and learning,, and keep trying
no matter what! There is so much out there waiting for your unique possibilities,
your personal touch and input. There is no one else that will ever do the
same way you do it!

How to Build
an Online Business Part 2

To continue on
with this series on how to build an
online business, I would like to talk about advertising.
There are various ways of advertising your business,
website, or ezine. Some are free, some not. Some
are effective, some not.
Let's take a look at some that, I think, are effective.
EZINE ADVERTISING
-Buying paid ad spots in an ezine
can be very effective. Some ways to find out which
ezines are better for your advertising.....
Subscribe to
the ezine to get an idea of the
consistency, reliability and quality of the ezine.
Contact the publisher
to see if they make themselves
available to their subscribers. If the publisher is
not available to his/her subscribers, chances are the
trust/respect relationship is not there.
Read the feedback
of other advertisers to see what
kind of results they got.
JOINT VENTURES - Another way to effectively advertise
your ezine/business is by participating in joint
ventures with business associates. Examples of such
Joint Ventures would be..........
Ad swaps - Contact
fellow publishers to see if they
would be interested in swapping ads, that is, they run
your ad in their ezine and you do the same for them.
Group PopUnder/Over
Windows - Joint ventures like
this enable your ezine/business to be advertised on
several different sites everytime they get a visitor.
SigTag Swaps
- Find yourself a sigtag buddy and swap
signatures for a period of time...a week, a month,
whatever you agree upon. When that swap is over,
arrange another one. This can bring you a lot of
additional exposure.
WRITING ARTICLES
- This is definitely one of the most
powerful and effective methods of free advertising.
Writing and submitting articles can get you tons of
exposure in ezines and on websites. This also helps
your search engine ranking.
The first article
is indeed the hardest. Once you get
started they will come much easier. Do not be afraid
to give your articles a little personality and/or
humor. Subscribe to some ezines and read the articles
to get an idea of what people are writing. But do not
try to copy somebody else's style. You want YOUR
knowledge and personality to come through in your
articles.

a few of the numerous and creative ways
of advertising your business/ezine on the Internet.
