Pixie Adventure #1 – The Art of Making New Friends @Crayola

In November I was invited on a fantastic trip with my daughters Ariyona and Hailey to New York City to party with the Crayola Pop Art Pixies. This was probably the most memorable trip I have ever had and was so excited to see a video this morning published on Crayola’s YouTube page that shows just some of the details on our fun trip to the Big Apple.

I am only in this video for a brief second but you will see my daughters a few times. Looks like there will be more on this video series so be sure to stay tuned for more!

Crayola Pop Art Pixies Review & Giveaway

Last year Crayola came out with a new product line called the Pop Art Pixies. This is a CUTE line of craft products for the tweens. If you have been following along my blog, you will probably already know that I got to fly to New York City in November and party with the Pop Art Pixies. We had lots of of visiting some great places in NYC and also got to do some of the fun Pop Art Pixie crafts.

One of the first crafts that we did our first night in NYC was the Crayola Wind Chimes. This craft comes with 2 birdhouse wind chimes that are ready to be painted. Included in this kit is  6 paint colors and a paint brush.

My daughters and I had a blast painting our wind chimes. I have my wind chimes hanging in my kitchen and can hear them make noise when I have the windows open when the wind is blowing. Listening to them and seeing them remind me of of the good and fun times I had in NYC with my daughters. My daughters used the wind chimes that they made for gifts this past holiday.

The next Crayola Pop Art Pixie product that we did together was the Crayola Water Bottle. I think this is a product that is VERY COOL. Since I like water and I like being eco-friendly and saving plastic bottles, I like to have these kinds of bottles at my house. My daughters and I all got to design our own aluminum water bottles.

The Crayola Pop Art Pixie Water Bottle Kit comes with 1 aluminum water bottle, a Carabiner clip with split ring, 4 stencils, 6 paint colors and a paint brush. We used the stencils and added some of our own art work. I was really amazed at some of the designs the girls had on these water bottles at the end of the nights.

The next product that we made was the Crayola Pop Art Pixie Glass Plates. These are glasses that you decorate that allows you to serve food with style. Now this craft was a little fun because you have to use your imagination on what you want to add to the bottom of your plate. This kit includes 3 food safe glass plates (2 square and 1 round), some Decoupage solution, 3 design sheets and a paint brush.

What you do with this craft is cut out designs from the sheets, place them on the back and use the paint brush with the solution to make the design stick on the back. It was a fun and easy craft. We have our plates stored in the kitchen cabinet to use for special occasions.

The last kit that we got to put together was the Crayola Color Glow Lamp. While I LOVE all the products that I got to put together, this one happens to be my favorite. The Crayola Color Glow Lamp is a cute little light show in a lamp that you put together and design. We took a trip on a Saturday evening in NYC to the DJ Scratch Academy where we put together these lamps and learned how to scratch.

The Crayola Color Glow Lamp comes includes an Accordion-style shade, a Light base with colored LEDs, a mirrored cone, string, string and decals. I made a lamp that has a bunch of stars. I have my Crayola Glow Lamp in my room on my dresser and LOVE it!

Crayola NYC Pixie Party Trip – Day 2 – Stop 1

Last week I told you about my Day 1 on my trip to NYC. The second day is the best part of the trip and a day me and my daughters will remember for LIFE. Day 2 starts with us waking up late and in a panic. We were supposed to meet downstairs for breakfast at around 8:30 – 9:00am. I had planned to wake up at 6am and check out NYC in the morning, before we got our day started but that did not happen. I had used my cell phone for an alarm that was set for Monday – Friday only. I am so glad that we took showers the night before and were able to jump up and throw our clothes on, brush our teeth, brush our hair, throw on some makeup and head downstairs to the rest of the Pixies.

We got downstairs (in our cute Pixie shirts) and were able to grab some breakfast and make the Crayola Pop Art Pixies Glass Pendant. These are cute little glass pendants that you color and personalize. After we were done, we were all instructed to meet outside where we would first see our cool Pop Art Pixie Tour Bus. This thing was awesome on the outside as well as the inside. The inside had white plastic seats with cool lighting in the inside. This was the coolest tour bus I have seen yet.

So we all pile in the bus and get ready to head out on our day. Before we were told where we were going, we received our first “Pixie Mail” of the day. The “Pixie Mail” is a Pop Art Pixie postcard with some clues on where we were going next. Since the Pop Art Pixie character “Skye” likes nature and wildlife, we were taken to Central Park. What we did not expect was a nice horse drawn buggy ride all throughout the park.

I have been on a buggy ride before, but not a buggy ride all throughout Central Park in New York. It was cold outside and we got to cover up with a big fluffy red blanket. I would have to say that Central Park is beautiful. The colors of the leaves really look amazing. My daughter Hailey had even asked me if the trees were fake. I totally want to take a trip back to this park just to walk around.

While we were stopped, I got to grab a picture with Jennifer and Connie. I was so excited to be able to meet other mommy bloggers that I have met online and also read their blogs. This was my first time meeting other blogging moms and I couldn’t resist getting a picture with them. They got the cutest buggy, it was PURPLE.

One of my favorite parts of the buggy ride is when we stopped at a tree that had all of our Crayola Pop Art Pixie Wind Chimes hanging that we had painted the night before. This was so unexpected and so cool! I just had to snap some pictures of all our pretty wind chimes hanging in the wind.

Another cool part of the buggy ride was being able to stop and view the Bethesda Fountain that is located in Central Park. We had seen this fountain in the movie Elf and was excited to see it in person. I got quite a few snapshots of the fountain, including the girls standing in front of it. Know that we had to watch the movie Elf when we got home, especially after seeing the billboards in NYC for it. We happened to own the movie, so the day after we got home, we popped in the DVD and watched it remembering the fun times in Central Park we had.

Now this is only Stop 1 out of 4. Stay tuned to hear about the rest of the stops we made on our Crayola NYC Pixie Weekend Adventure.
