California Wine Club’s Free Wine & Food Pairing iPhone App

This year I found my love for wine! I am in my mid thirties and never really enjoyed a glass of wine until this year. I have been having fun testing out some of the different wines available and also seeing which wine tastes best with certain types of foods. This year I have had the opportunity to try some of the wines from the California Wine Club, read my review here. Not only does California Wine Club have a neat selection of wines that you can receive each month, they also just launched a cool Wine & Food Pairing iPhone amd iPad app for the wine enthusiasts.

With this new app, you can use a wheel to see which foods tastes best with specific foods. I think this can come in handy if you are out at a restaurant and you want to find out what food and wine will taste best together! Also, if you have guests at your house and you are serving wine, you might look like a great host when you know what food to serve with the wine you are giving them.

Here is a screenshot from my iPhone last night on one of my favorite pairs. I love cheesecake and one of my favorite wines so far is the Rieslings so this was a match for me! There is also a wine pair for pizza which really interested me. Can you guess which wines the app is going to suggest?

This fun app is compatible with the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

Moby iPhone App Review

Ever since I got my iPhone last year, I have been having fun playing with the different apps and games that are available. There are my favorite FREE apps and then there are apps that I have paid for that I use almost daily too!

I recently download the new Moby iPhone app to check it out and see how it works. This is an app that families can use to keep track of each other without calling or texting each other. When you are using the app, you can check-in with other people in your contacts, request a check-in request or ask for help with Moby’s simple Alert function. With this handy Alert function, you can instantly notify someone in your contacts where you are at and you need their help. Now I was able to install this app on my iPhone, but it is also available on other phone devices too such as the Android and Blackberry.

Moby can be useful for families, real estate agents and even students.To make the most of this app, it is best that all of your family members with an iPhone have the app downloaded on their phone. An iPhone is not needed though. Anyone can benefit from the Moby app as long as one family member has the app on their device and others have access to email. The family member who has the Moby app can share their location with any other family member (whether or not they have the app) and the other person can receive messages from you via email. Both of my daughters have email, so I can have fun sharing my location with them when I am away from home.

Yesterday, I had a little fun with this app. I was on the river yesterday on our friend’s sailboat and asked my daughter to check my location. She said it showed that I was in the water. It was pretty neat that she could see where I was at. If something was to happen, at least she would know where to send for help. What is also neat about this cool about is that Moby is a FREE app! You can download it and begin using it today!
