Taking
An Extra Step To Making A Safe Home For Your Family

Mom do you know the chemicals and toxins that are currently in your
home.
Believe it or not but your home may contain some big threats to
the health of
your precious loved ones in your home.
Do
you currently wash clothes or dishes? Do you brush your teeth or
shampoo
your hair? Or maybe you and your children love bubble baths. If
you do any of
the the above daily chores you may be vulnerable to chemicals and
toxins that
you are unaware of lurking in your thought to be safe home. You
could be using
common household products on a daily basis that could be harming
you or your
loved ones.
Exposure
to breathing in toxic fumes can damage the respiratory system. Children
are more venerable to inhaling these fumes because of their high
metabolism. Doctors have shown that children require more oxygen
than adults and breathe in two to three times more of the toxin
polluted air. Your children may also be exposed to these chemicals
and toxins by drinking or swallowing them. Young children especially
are venerable to this type of exposure because they often put different
types of materials in their little mouths. Having contact with these
toxins and chemicals on your skin can also be a big threat. Chemical
exposure to your skin can cause skin irritations, burns, and even
allergic reactions. These chemicals can even get into your bloodstream
through cuts, scrapes, or sores. If chemicals enter your bloodstream
they can do damage to your vital organs and other possible damage.
As
a cautious parent you probably take quite a few necessary steps
in making sure your children are healthy and safe. You probably
take your children to doctors and the dentist for checkups, you
buckle them snugly in their car seats, you have your home child
proofed so no accidents happen and you probably watch what they
eat and make sure they have a healthy diet. Parents do whatever
they can to make sure their homes are safe from unexpected accidents.
Go
a step farther and learn about the chemicals and toxins in your
home. Here is a list of some of the products in your home that may
be harmful to you and your family: Household cleaners, laundry soaps,
dish soap, bar soaps, shampoos, toothpaste, mouthwash, bubble bath,
hair styling products, cosmetics and more.
Some
tips to follow are:
Read chemical labels
Choose the least hazardous products
Buy multi-use products to cut back on the chemicals in your home
Only use chemicals in well ventilated areas
Learn and know first aid
Never Mix chemicals
If
you use ammonia or chlorine bleach please make sure that you know
that if used incorrectly they can cause sever eye irritation, swelling,
possible blindness, burns, blurred vision or blindness, and could
be fatal if swallowed. Please make sure that you have the phone
number to the poison control near your phone in case of emergency.
What
can you do to make your home safe for you and your family? Remember
to read labels and know what you are using and buying. There are
also alternative and safe products that are available on the market
today. These products can be found at some health food stores. There
are also companies that sell all safe-non toxic products through
catalog/website.
