Are You Ready For Thanksgiving?

I am going to be cooking this year for Thanksgiving and probably have got my hands full. We bought both a turkey and a ham. I am not sure if I want to cook the ham the night before since I only have one oven. I have been thinking of what else I am going to prepare. I am on a low calorie diet and I am going to have to be careful that day.

Do you do anything special to prepare your turkey? What I do is lift up the skin on the bird and place butter under the skin. I have done this the last couple times I have cooked a turkey and it comes out pretty good. My friend also recommended brining the turkey first. This entails letting your turkey soak overnight in a salt based solution. She says her turkeys come out nice and juicy. Visit these links for more info: http://allrecipes.com/HowTo/Brining-Turkey/Detail.aspx and http://www.ehow.com/how_2101895_juicy-savory-brine-thanksgiving-turkey.html.

How did it go on Thanksgiving? I did the cooking this year and things went smooth until I punctured a whole in the bottom of the foil pan when I was cutting the turkey LOL! I can laugh now that the grease is cleaned up.

My Thanksgiving turned out pretty good. I got up really early and put a ham in the oven. Once that was done cooking, I threw in a turkey. I did all the cooking myself and boy was I proud!
