I don't know why, but I have always been afraid to speak in front of large groups, classes, etc. I guess it is what you can call social anxiety. I don't mind speaking in front of friends, but if I am in a room full of strangers, the thought of getting in front of them speaking terrifies me.
I guess you can say that I have never wanted to be a celebrity speaker. While being rich and having everything I could ever want sounds oh so good, I could never live a celebrity life. I love being just me! I admire those motivational speakers who can get in front of hundreds if not thousands of people and give them advice. I would have loved just to be able to do an oral book report without being afraid back in high school.
The reason why I am talking about this is because I went to a presentation tonight for a home business opportunity. While the business sounded like something I would love to be involved with, you have to promote the business via presentations to people at their homes, etc.
Anyone care to share their speaking tips?

I did try Toastmasters for a while, it helped with my fear, but gave me too much extra work to do! LOL. I suggest listening to a guided meditation before you speak (in your parked car) so you can appear confident. Good luck and I am sure you will rock it!
I used to have to make large presentations to high dollar suits in my previous life as a Network/Project Manager for a very large corp.
They used to intimidate me, but I'd put my 'tude on and was always able to get through it without stammering. :)
I'm sorry it's something you're not comfortable doing. I don't know how I got past it, probably because I only suffered nerves and not actual fear.
