Credit Card Nightmare
I just have to vent. Last month I accidentally sent my mortgage payment to my credit card company Capital One in error. The night that it came out of my bank account, I called Capital One to let them know I had made an error. The lady that I spoke with told me that she would just refund my payment electronically and wait 5 business days. So I wait the 5 business days and no refund comes into my account. I then called and asked them where my refund was at. The person I spoke with told me that they could not verify my bank account since I had never mailed them a paper check. They told me to call my bank and have the payment reversed. So stupid me calls the bank and basically gets laughed at. They say they don't have the ability to reverse this electronic payment. So I called Capital One back who then suggests I take the money out on a cash advance on the card so I can pay back even more interest. I tell them this is not acceptable. On this day the end result was them telling me they would cut a check for my payment and to wait 5 to 10 business days for the check to leave. Then allow 5 to 10 days for mailing.

Okay, I waited 3 weeks and nothing. I call Capital One again and they said there was an error and my refund request was not processed. I begged them to rush a check to me as this was my mortgage payment. They tell me I have to wait because they get requests like this all the time. I am like, oh yeah, everyone accidentally sends you their mortgage payment. I was then told to wait another 5 to 10 business days for the check to leave their office and 5 to 10 days for mailing. After I got off the phone, I filed a dispute with the BBB. Their company has over 8,000 complaints with 441 of them being about refunds.

So I called today. Looks like a refund was processed, but just for the overage. I told them numerous times this was a payment made in error and I wanted the full payment back. I told them not to pay off the account with the payment, BUT THEY DID. So I asked to speak to a manager who then again suggests I just take a cash advance off my credit card and keep the overage refund that is coming. For one, I cut up the credit card over a year ago and two, I am not paying the higher interest rate.

So the end result was them telling me to wait 10 days for the check to be cut and then wait to receive it. I am so upset!
