Advantages Of The Hybrid Cars
Last year I rented a hybrid car. I did not rent it by choice, it just happened to be what they had available for me. I had heard of these cars and had been wanting to drive one to see what was so special about them. Ever since I rented that darn car, I wondered what the advantages of owning one was so I did a little research. It seemed almost the same as driving a regular car to me except one major difference.

One of the main advantages of he hybrid cars are they can save you money by saving on your gas expenses. With their electric motors, they can save up to 30 miles per gallon. One of the ways it saves gas is that the car will shut off when it stops. Then when you start to excel again, the motor will start back up. This process alone will save gas when driving! When I first started driving the Toyota Prius I rented, I thought the car broke down when I had stopped because I had no idea they did that. This was the main difference I mentioned above.

Another advantage of the hybrids is that they emit lower toxic emissions compared to a normal gasoline powered car. They cause less pollution and release less carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. This means that they are more eco-friendly.

While I would love to own one of these cars to be more eco-friendly, I would rather drive something more fashionable like a Dodge Charger. Right now I own a SUV that is a gas hog but I love it!

What are your thoughts of the hybrids?

I've been watching the hybrid cars for years and thinking that I would love to have one so that I could help contribute to a cleaner atmosphere. Unfortunately so far, when you buy a hybrid, you sacrifice space and money. The money you save in gas doesn't add up to the higher sticker price that you pay. When the larger versions come out and if they are more economical to buy and own, I will happily give up my gas eaters!

It's getting close, the technology is here, the models are expanding and the prices dropping.

I have to agree with you on the fashionable statement. I really do not like the look of those hybrids. I love to have a nice war with a purr of power under it--I am a Camaro fanatic--and the nice exterior that looks like a powerful car.

Maybe I'm just old?
